This past Saturday, Brandon and I (Lynnette) traveled back to Orion Studios in Baltimore to add additional bass tracks plus main vocal parts and some keyboards to the three songs the whole band had recorded the previous weekend with engineers Mike Potter and Joe Tracey. If you missed our post, " Studio Diary Pt. 1", click here to read. It was a long, cold, rainy day (we started recording around 11:45 AM and wrapped up around 9 PM.) Engineer Joe Tracey worked us with us for this session.

We spent the first half of the session finishing up Brandon's bass sections and then moved onto vocals for about three hours. We tracked all the main vocal lines for "Howl", "Insomniac" and "Tear the Sky Down" plus a little bit of backing vocals on "Howl". Brandon also added some Hammond organ and Fender Rhodes to the mix.

It's always a bit of a challenge to get into the studio mindset vs a live mindset -- having to perform to already-recorded tracks in a room by yourself from tracks coming in over a headphone vs. being able to see band members in person and playing off each other. However, it was much easier at Orion as we could lay down the initial template tracks while playing together in one big room so we could visually cue off each other.

I've made a behind-the-scenes video documentary of our four days in the studio so far. You can click here to watch on Youtube or click on the video link below.

Joe gave us some rough mixes of our recordings so we could take the track backs to the rest of the band and decide on additonal tracks (backing vocals, keys, any additional guitars, if any, or any tweaking to parts). We plan to meet back up again in the studio in the next few weeks.

I've added the photos I took yesterday to our Orion Studios photo album on our website. You can check it out here.

I really liked how clearly everything was explained. The content flow makes it easy for new users to understand Apbook in and the features of apbook in without confusion. One of the most informative posts I’ve read recently. Great work by the apbook login india team.
